Surprising. It’s medium-sweet (to me) for a start. Syrup tasting. A sense of dry, but the sweetness wins out. Was expecting more, considering the Gold and Dry versions are SO good - in their categories.
Very light in colour with a hay/straw tint. Tastes ‘man-made’ rather than a natural process, and sure, I get that mass-produced cider can have that quality, but this is a surprise.
Has a stickiness to the aftertaste, like crystallised warmed sugar, with a honeybee tinge. It tastes like the Cornish Orchards Gold poured in with the Cornish Orchards Dry.
However - this is VERY drinkable and has a tinge of dryness to it as the taste has a mellow start, short on the palate and sticky. It could be a session cider, but it’s too strong at 7.2%.
I was expecting this to be more like Aspall’s 7.2%, but it’s almost at the other end of the farmhouse.
I’ve given it 3/5 as it’s not average enough to have a 2, but it’s not brilliant enough for a 4 or exceptional enough for a 5.
Was so excited to taste this. It’s a medium body though, it has a depth because of the heavy syrupy taste. Very light in fizz. No fruit smell at all on the nose. So surprising. Hardly anything. Nothing.
Strangely, if Sugarpuffs cereal could be a cider, this would be it. The taste is nigh-on identical.
