Les Celliers Associés Cidre d Bretagne Doux (2.5% ABV, 750ml). A co-operative of cider and wine growers in the Rance Valley of Brittany that also sells ciders under the "Val de Rance" brand (see below). Made from 100% regional apples, without sweeteners or colourings. Deep, clear golden colour with a tiny white head. Tart, lightly candied apples in the nose, with mild hints of farmyard funk, and some vinegar. Medium body, moderate carbonation. On the palate, a mix of ripe red apples, apple skins, and vinegar, with only very faint echoes of funk in the background. The latter gets a wee bit stronger towards the finish, which also shows some tannins (very mild bitterness, and again apple skins/cores. Faintly sweet aftertaste of apples and skins. Fruity, semi-sweet to sweet cider with less farmyard funk than other ciders from he region. Moderate acidity keeps this from getting cloying. Good (7.5/10).
