It burst out of the ground in front of me, its great mandibles catching me just below the knee. My greave probably saved my leg, but it was crushed excruciatingly around my calf. I thrust my sword down repeatedly at its large insectoid head as it started to drag me into the earth. I struck true, and scrambled back as the grip on my leg faltered.
This cider was unexpected.
