Ice Cider

Clear dark amber pour. Aroma of alcohol, caramel and brown sugar. Taste is sweet with a ripe apple flavor upfront backed by caramel, vanilla, honey and a hint of brown sugar.

VT ice cider made at Eden Ice Cider from Newhall Farm organic estate-grown heirloom, dessert, and wild apple varieties. $20-$23 for a 187ml bottle. I can't help but compare it to Eden Heirloom Blend. It is 2% higher in ABV (12% not 10%) and 1% lower in residual sugar (14% not 15%). Nerhall Farms has a lot of the same flavor notes as Eden Heirloom (caramel, brown sugar, honey), but the extra ABV seems to slightly off balance it / have an extra boozy lingering warming finish. Very enjoyable, but my favorite ice cider remains Eden Northern Spy (barrel aged).
