Sniff! Apple peel, funk and sweet nougat - interesting nose. But it fades.
Taste? Medium bodied with a sharp acidic bite which is low on length. If this cider were a bit fuller it’d be a corker but it just ebbs away leaving you teased and wanting more - in a bad way.
It’s got hardly any fizz, is golden bronze and looks fabulous in the glass. But like certain things in life, looks can be deceiving.
The back end is a bit watery as the initial dryness flows away leaving a bitter and slightly sour aftertaste. It’s not horrible, but it’s not intriguing either and it does have a sweet kick at the end.
I reviewed this cider in May 2025 so it’s had nearly 2yrs to mature and just lacks that - maturity and complexity. You can taste the burnt share acid for sure.
It’s nice enough and would go well with a decent cheese or ploughman’s lunch but because it’s on the drier side you’d end up sipping away - like I did during this review. Was just hoping for more. It does pack a decent apple flavour though, I’ll give it that.
Overall? It’s not bad, but it’s big great either and therefore a solid 3/5.
