When you find yourself in a throne room, you bow. There are other possible actions, but bowing is the safest, the most likely to buy you time until the situation can be assessed, and further action can be taken. If there's one thing that is common across the spectrum of nobility, self-styled or otherwise, it is propriety. It is manners. They operate according to their own laws and customs, but these laws and customs do exist.
We entered a throne room, so we bowed. The creature on the throne nodded its head in return. We had bought ourselves time.
This cider obeys laws and customs. It would not be out of place in a throne room.
