A nice dry, sparkling cider. I didn’t buy this at the camp site, but in a petrol station supermarket in Scurlage, (it’s also available in the Premier convenience shop in the village too). This cider has more of a thinner, watery taste to it than those other dry sparkling ciders I’ve had like Cornish Orchard Dry and Crossman’s - but that’s not a bad thing in this instance - it has that ‘homemade’ quality to it. You cannot taste the earth or the farmyard in this one - but you can taste the apple as if you were eating it with the bitterness of the bite has been mellowed into a wonderful drinking flavour. It’s very nice! And at 6% ABV it’s not going to launch you to the moon or leave you legless after a few pints.
It’s well crafted with a solid taste on the tongue with medium fizz and a short to medium aftertaste which would please any cider drinker. It’s light golden honey yellow colour is a delight and if you like your cider on the drier side, you can’t go wrong with this effort from Tomos Watkin of Wales.
I’d give it 5 stars but it’s just lacking that something in terms of finish and body - it’s a goodun’ but personally I feel I’ve had better so I’m giving it a very solid 4/5.
