2016 Herefordshire Vintage

Disappointing lack of flavour but still refreshing to drink. There was nothing unpleasant, just too watery.

Light golden colour, with an aroma of apple skin and caramel. Curiously lacking in flavour. The maker specifies that they use bitter-sweet cider apples, but there is little evidence of this in the actual taste. Thin and watery. Easy to drink, but unremàrkable. Update:- A second bottle, at a later date, was more flavourful than the first! Dodgy batch? The flavour is initially light, crisp fruit, before gaining astringency and a caramel tone. Lingering bitterness in the finish. This was far more what I expected of this cider. Pleasant, drinkable, and with some depth and complexity. Not as good as Waitrose's English Vintage, but a satisfying drink.
