Not a lot under the nose on this one except apple notes and a hint of peach.
Taste? It’spretty average but is pretty refreshing. For a medium-dry it has a drier aftertaste and the sweetness kicks in.
Sharp’s brewery tend to be famous for their ales so I suppose it’s no surprise that this cider isn’t amazing - thing is, you never know so it was worth giving it a go. Sipped this one at The George, Weymouth Harbour Quayside, in Dorset (UK).
It’s golden yellow in colour; very light and medium carbonation. Its body is also medium with a touch of lightness and isn’t very complex at all. Sharp and fairly dry - perhaps that was the brewery’s intention since they are called Sharp’s.
It’s pleasant enough for a refreshing hit in the sun and perhaps for those who haven’t really explored other ciders too much and overall it’s a decent entry that will suit most pub visitors looking for a cider that looks different but doesn’t taste remarkable. Refreshing is probably the most positive summary but I personally wouldn’t rush to the bar for another one mainly because of its sweet aftertaste and average quality.
4.5%ABV. 3/5 stars.
