Nothing under the nose except on my first sniff, but I can’t place it since it I couldn’t get the smell to come back again but after persevering I managed to sniff a bit of earth. But that was about it.
The taste is pretty sharp and whilst there isn’t an aroma the flavour made up for this - a bit. It’s got a pretty good length and is fairly refreshing for a dry cider but the taste isn’t very complex and is bit linear and obvious (I almost knew what it was going to taste like before I opened the bottle). It’s got something, and I knocked it back pretty quickly and it’s quite watery on the back end. This cider is tart, I’ll give if that and that’s what lingers and spreads out to leave a flattened, balanced taste and after taste.
If the flavour had more depth I’d have gone for a higher score and I was torn but If you like a strong, tart apple taste, then this cider is for you.
The colour is bronze and the fizz is light but just enough to satisfy. I’m keen to try the medium and sweet verisons as my persuasion is always with the dry ciders - but this one has me curious.
This cider took gold at the Taste West South East England awards 2023.
4/5.
