Doux

Cidre de Normandie Fournier Doux (2.5% ABV, 750ml). This family cidery was established in 1943 and is now run by its third generation. 100% made from fresh local apples, without any additives beyond sulphite. Pours a clear bright gold. Sweetish note of ripe red apples, apple juice. Medium body and lively carbonation. Initially sweet taste of candy apples, with moderate acidity; soon to be replaced with a strong tannic bite of apple skins and cores. Finish is sweetish again, but of fainter apples, before another bout of tannins hit in the aftertaste, combined with apples and orchard leaves. A bit over-carbonated, otherwise extremely fruity, very moderately acidic and clean. No farmyard funk in this one. 7.5/10.

Amber coloured, clear with heavy fizz. Strong ripe apple aroma with caramel and candy flossl. Very fruity with dried fruit and honey. Very rich, a bit too sweet and a bit too fizzy.
