The aroma is zesty and fresh with an element of lime, vanilla and funky farmward. Lovely! And I mean that. It smells great although I was hoping for more. The taste is pretty good - a decent cider (but you’d expect that as it’s made by Henry Weston’s and that is clearly emblazoned on the label around the neck of the bottle). I’ve taste tested this cider against the Henry Weston’s Signature Vintage cider (of the same ABV, 6.8%) and there is a slight difference (as I’ve often wondered if these two cider variations were the same). It’s a medium cider and bang in the middle of the dry/sweet spectrum. It’s medium bodied (perhaps even a bit on the light side) with a decent length and wraps itself around the whole palate. As a medium cider its sweetness brings out hints of caramel, apple peel and nougat. There’s a bit of fizz but not loads but enough to satisfy. It’s golden bronze in colour and full of taste. For the price, it’s a bit of a bargain as it comes in a 750ml bottle. If it was a bit more rounded and full bodied I’d probably have given it 5/5, but it does lack something and I think it’s in the complexity of the taste. Just a tad more and it was a five. This cider is made with bitter sweet apples and the aftertaste is a bit sour, but not unpleasant. One thing’s for sure it’s certainly quality - as it set my hayfever off - and only the genuine ciders do that! 4/5 as you can’t argue with the price.
