Kerné Fruité (4% ABV, 750ml). From the core range by Ciderie Kerné in Brittany comes this semi-sweet sparkling cider that is made from 100% apple juice.
The colour is a deep, clear gold. Very strong aroma of baked apples/apple pie, mild farmyard notes, hints of raisins, and some vinegar. Medium body, fairly lively carbonation. On the palate, the same strong baked apples, healthy balancing vinegar, medium tannins, apple peel and barnyard funk. The apple skins/tannins become stronger, and the finish is dry, before sweetness (apples, honey) and mild vinegar return in the very long aftertaste. Very impressive cider; extremely fruity, but not too sweet. Good depth, too. 9/10.
