Woodgate 2022 Vintage Cider

When I bought this I thought it was a repacked ‘Weston’s British Vintage 7.3%’ - but if it is, and it might be as Weston’s make a lot of supermarket own-brand cider, it’s less fizzy than the Weston’s British Vintage. The nose is pretty interesting. Quite earthy, oak and a peachy, sugary hint with faint citrus notes. The fizz is hardly present - almost flat (well, this bottle was anyway). It’s a very smooth taste though and medium bodied with a decent length. The taste is smooth but sharp on first sip and then mellows and lingers nicely. You can taste that it’s 7.3%ABV and it’s a very pleasant cider bjt could be on the sharp side for some palates. This is is dry, bang on medium-sweet, I’d say. The colour is golden-bronze and solid. This cider would go well with crisps or pork scratchings - perhaps even a decent ploughman’s. I’d love to try this alongside or back to back with a Weston’s British Vintage. 3/5 as the Weston’s British Vintage is slightly fizzier and I have that 4/5. Bought this in Lidl for a lesser price than a genuine bottle of Weston’s.

Light, slightly sparkling with a bitter after taste. 7.3% so a nice alcohol content but not quite to my taste over all.
