What a delight! The nose on this one is out of this world. I’ve said it before - you do find some cider gems in Worcestershire. Plenty of farmyard funk and manure in the aroma, sweet leather, coconut, apple peel/core and an earthy depth with sweet apple notes. Bloody lovely!
The taste? Sweeter than I would have guessed for a vintage - perhaps too sweet for some palates and bang on medium in taste. Perhaps even medium-sweet. It’s medium-light in body, a little bit of fizz and a mellow swill with medium to short length. It’s peachy, tasty and sugary, that’s for sure with a clemamtine zest. The aftertaste is really interesting leaving traces of honey, caramel and thick treacle-like brown sugar.
The colour is a light, golden bronze hue and looks great in the glass. I’d have given this a five but it’s just too sweet and not complex enough.
It’s pleasant to drink and at 6%ABV you could sink a few and not worry too much - this cider would go so well with a ploughman’s or cheese and grapes. It would also pair alongside some salty pub snacks. 4/5 and on this occasion feel I’m being generous.
Expected more as I paid £7.35 for the bottle. The best thing about this cider was the aroma and nose but it still hits a 4/5 from me.
