Trabanco Lagar de Camín Sidra Extra Clásica (5.0% ABV, 750ml). Members of the Trabanco family have been making cider since 1925 in the town of Lavandera, Province of Léon. Their ciders contain no artificial ingredients (no colour, no sweeteners), other than sulphite. There's no indication whether the apples are organically grown or not. The "Lagar de Camin" edition is pale yellow in colour, with a slightly greenish tint, and it's sparkling. Looks a lot like Champagne. The aroma is of tart green apples, mildly sour, as well as of white grapes and yeast. Surprisingly full-bodied for just 5%, with mild carbonation. Palate opens with some sweet and sour apples, quite a bit of vinegar/astringency, apple peel and lemon. There's a lot going on. More sour and vinegary in the middle, it finishes with with more sweetness, again vinegar, but the tannins are very low (quite the contrast to some of the French ciders I tried before). Mild aftertaste of apple peel, sugar, and yeast. Very fruity and lively cider, with enough of the vinegary notes I like so much. 8.5/10.
