Val de Rance Cru Breton Bio-Cidre (4% ABV, 750ml). This cider from Brittany, France, is made entirely from freshly pressed local apples. The colour is deep very mildly cloudy amber, and it comes with a small head. Ripe, slightly tart apples, caramel, tannins, a hint of oak in the aroma. Medium body and carbonation. Sweet red apples and a healthy dose of vinegar on the palate at first; some honey, lemon, caramel. Semi-sweet, I'd say. The honey lasts into the finish, which is more dry and tannic, with an aftertaste of faint apples, apple-skins and a slightly bitter oaky note. If you like semi-sweet, very fruity ciders like I do, this is for you! Very good indeed. 9/10.
