There’s not a whole lot going on under the nose - a hint of vanilla and buttery fudge and hay. The colour is a hazy, golden sun glow of farmyard cider and is the only Henry Westons cider entries to be sold in a clear glass bottle, which is an indication that it has preservatives in it - and it does (and says so on the back label). Normally Westons cider, including the cider they make for Hawkstone comes in a brown bottle so that any light doesn’t damage the cider inside). This cider is sharp and tangy with a faint citrus zest, a bit of fizz and a watery back end - but don’t let that put you off. The front label says it’s full-bodied with ‘fruity character’ and that isn’t wrong and it doesn’t taste like it kicks a seven point four ABV percentage. The length is really short and doesn’t linger with any fullness it’s just heavy to begin with and then fades away with a drier back end leaving you wanting another sip. This cider is certainly on the drier side and I like that. It’s a very refined farmyard effort. Any sweetness is veg natural and just about right. It’s very balanced and on the drier side of medium so if you you like a sweeter cider you may find this one challenging.
