Stonewell Dry Irish Craft Cider (5.5%, 500ml). You can tell it's not an English or Scottish cider because it doesn't have the patronizing "recommended alcoholic units" symbol on the label. 😉
The colour is the "darkest" yet, a clear deep amber/bronze. It's got higher carbonation than the other ones - which I learned the hard way upon opening the bottle on my desk. 😉. It's made in Cork from 100% Dabinett, Michelin, Jonagored, Elstar & Falstaff apples, no additives.
Intense red apples in the aroma, quite sweetish with caramel, wee lemon and tannins, apple skins. Medium body and carbonation. The aroma doesn't prepare you for the flavour which is mostly green apples - it's still very fruity, but only for a moment before the vinegar and lemon and a general dryness will hit you. The vinegar notes seem less aggressive as you keep drinking. Finish is dry, slightly tannic, and the aftertaste very sour, lemony. Whatever initial sweetness this cider has is being purged by the finish and aftertaste. I'm somewhat reminded of a very mineral German Riesling.
Very refreshing, quite different. I like it, in moderation. 8/10.
