Homestead Semisweet Cider

I sampled this at their Port Townsend tasting room, then bought a bottle. Smells likes sweet apples with a touch of honey. Yeasty, slightly rich, similar to English cider, but with a touch of honey notes. It even has some tannins, but remains very approachable. I liked it much better than their Homestead Dry that I tried at Cider Summit, as it didn’t have as much tartness or bitterness.

If you drink this right after opening the bottle, it will come on fairly bitter. However if you pour and let it breathe got a while, the bitterness mellows. What you end up with is a very flavorful, well balanced cider.

This is just ok to my pallet. A little too dry / bitter for semi Sweet in my opinion. Light thought.

Nice semi sweet. Has complexity yet it is very good for drinking with food.

Lightly sweet juicy apple flavor with a slight bit of tartness. Actually tastes a bit dry. Can also taste a hint of honey and funk.
