Well it’s certainly interesting. It’s very ‘home brew’ and tastes very strong, even if it is ‘only’ 6.5%ABV. Being honest it tastes and reminds me of my last home cider of Oct 2022 - it’s an almost identical cider. On having a sniff, there isn’t much going on - there’s a hint of brown sugar and perhaps some peel, but that’s about it. Where this cider does weigh in is with its taste. It tastes strong and has a punch. It’s funky for sure and dry. Its taste may be too ‘farmyard’ for some, but it’s a classic tasting scrumpy. It’s old school and it’s lovely. If it had a bit more fizz it would be very interesting indeed but it’s bordering on being a still cider - however there is a hint of carbonation. It’s dry and travels down the centre of the palate and doesn’t deviate. It’s got short to medium length and is medium bodied with a very strong apple depth. This cider is pungent, I’ll give it that! In the glass it’s cloudy and golden orange in colour and is fermented with natural yeasts over the winter until it matures in the spring, and you can tell. This is a cider for those who are fans or dry scrumpies. If you want to try something different, this is certainly a cider for you. How memorable it is lies in your own expectations. I don’t think I’ll forget trying this one, or wonder if I saw it again if I’d tried it. It has a slight watery back end but that’s all part of the fermentation process. This is a solid cider and one I’m glad I’ve tried and reviewed. If it had a bit more length and a bit more fizz it might have notched itself to a higher score. 4/5 and well worth enjoyed on its own without snacks or cheese. Time to just take this one in…enjoy!
