The cockroach of the cider family. it's everywhere. It's plain, simple but uninspiring.I can't knock it, however, as I have drunk more of this cider than any other. It is available in huge numbers of pubs, clubs and supermarkets. I think it has more of a pear taste to it recently. As cider apple demand and prices rise, so the alternative fruit juice content of Strongbow rises.

sweet but smooth

This is sold as Strongbow Original within the UK. Pale yellow in colour, with a light, somewhat chemical aroma. It is relatively flavourless and bland, though with a hint of kiwi fruit, and a slightly sour aftertaste. Not totally unpleasant, but essentially nondescript. Should be better available, wherever you are. Obtained from Scotmid, Leven Street, Edinburgh.

500ml can from DFDS Ferry. Sparking golden colour, fizzy white foam head that dissipates away and fruity apple aroma with a sulphur hint. Taste is sourish, apple, fruity, sugary melon, tangy. Light bodied, spritzy carbonation, dry finish. OK.
