Light yellow colour, clear and lightly sparkling. Strong pear drop aroma. Flavour is pear but a bit sickly sweet.

Yellow, with an aroma combining canned pear and pear drops. Sharp, pear drop flavour, with an edge of pear skin. Acceptable, if unremarkable.

Gwynt Y Ddraig Perry Vale Pear Cider (4.5%, 500ml). Made from three different varieties of cider pears. No apple juice in here, or any additional flavours - or so they say. Bright clear yellow colour. "Refreshing crisp flavour", the company says. Well, the aroma offers none of that. On the contrary, the nose is slightly mouldy autumn leaves [no best before date that I can find], faint pears in the background, a wee floral note. Medium body and carbonation. Semi-dry pears, again somewhat mouldy, on the palate. Fruit seem more fresh as you keep drinking. Earthy, leafy finish, then some sweet, cleaner pear, moderate bitterness in the aftertaste, a bit stale. Some people have compared this to "pear drops", but it seems more like windfall from the orchard to me. Never again. 4/10.
