Prohibition (Rumrunner)

If you like molasses (and I do), this cider lingers on your palate and reminds me of being a kid and dipping my finger into my Grandma’s bottle of molasses and trying to get the sticky sweetness off before I got caught! This is a delicious grown-up version of that nostalgia without the sticky fingers!

Very bold/aggressive/intense/complex, and boozy (in a good way). I love the flavor from the rum barrels. I pick up some caramel, browns sugar, rum, brandy?, vanilla, molasses, the list goes on. Woody earthy flavor and a bit of a bite. I find it interesting how most of these are “sweet” flavors, yet I’d call this a semi-dry cider. As it warms up from fridge temperature I like the flavor more, but it also seems to linger more on the palate. This isn't however a cider I'd want a large quantity of.

Remarkably balanced yet complex, molasses flavour without the sweetness.

My husband and I are opposites in our cider tastes. This is one of his favorites. Not so much for me personally. Quality cider, just not my preference.

I love the Rum Runner, and kind of feel we are doing it a disservice by labeling attached to the Prohibition. The molasses in the RR sets it apart from every other cider I have had. The Prohibition does not contain molasses, hence the name. It is illegal to ferment cider with molasses in the US currently. scoring the Prohibition.

So, at 12.5%, how bad can it be? It's awfully sweet though, and has strong flavour of rum.

Having it for the first time. Love it! Agree with cidersays' review
