About them: "I'm Michael Hughes, I live in Birmingham, I've been drinking real cider since the 1980s. I like beer too but only pale ales/IPA, and too much beer gives me gout! I brew cider (very basic kit) and since lockdown have a regular supply of 20L boxes from an agency in Weymouth. Therefore, my reviews are more likely to be of bag-in-box than bottles. My tastes are towards the dry, and prefer the clear, pale Eastern style to cloudy West Country. These appear to be rather broad-brush generalisations, indeed I'm never happier than during my annual pilgrimage to Ye Olde Cider Bar in Newton Abbot where I mostly drink the clear as a bell Winkleigh Sam's dry. Favourite cidery: Mr Whitehead's. Least favourite: Lilley's (too sweet) and Snails Bank who specialise in 4% so-called fruit ciders (should be called mixed fruit drinks) which I will not drink on principle."
