Gold

This is probably my base line for rating cider. If it is worse than Thatcher's Gold then it is awful. This is the distinctively ok, Gold colour, clear and extremely fizzy. No idea why Thatcher's ciders have a head? Crisp aroma with a hint of caramel. Initially, flavours of bitter sweet apple hint of tannins, sweet aftertaste, maybe caused by addition of artificial sweetner.

It's what I get for my drink included with a meal at spoons... nothing much more than that.

Nothing special but an ok drink not too sweet or too dry, think a lesser strongbow perhaps?!!

Not going to set the world on fire, not particularly fruity or punchy. Fizzy & sweet, couldn’t have a session on it.

Gold colour, clear with mid range fizz. Chemically aroma. Sweet non descript flavour. Ok if there’s nothing else!

This is an unremarkable cider. Drinkable, but not the stuff of which memories are made.

This is a very drinkable cider though it does not stand out. I could see a person drinking pint after pint and the pub as it goes with anything and would not offend the palate. However, it isn't interesting or complex.

Light golden colour with a almost sour taste. Not much more to say.

Mass produced, perfectly drinkable. It's best attribute is that it's not bad. I wouldn't drink it every day. once a week is acceptable.

This cider is funky in flavor more than in nose. The flavor is a little bitter on the back of the tongue. Thatcher’s Vintage is much more interesting.

Unobjectionable. Has a bit of funk on the nose, but that doesn’t really carry into the taste. A bit on the light bodied side, not quite watery, but close. A refreshing cider, but not horribly interesting.

Very easy drinking, goes very well with food, is quite light and refreshing.

Yellow colour, with an apple candy aroma. Apple candy flavour, with little aftertaste. Acceptable if nothing else available, but quite bland.

Rather blah. It also tastes heavily commercial to me. I didn't like the bitterness on the back end either.

Don’t start your journey into ciders with a Gold. You would be better served with carbonated apple juice.

A solid choice for bulk buy cans or bottle. Best of the basic bunch

I picked up a phenolic flavor at the end that wasn’t appealing to me. I also noted it on the nose so it started and ended with that phenolic funk. I was trying a half pint of this and Haze with my dinner. Maybe it was the food but I preferred the Haze over the two options that I had. However, I liked the Burrow Hill Perry that I drank later the best.

This could grow on me, clear crisp, funky nose, but otherwise unexceptional

Easy drinking quality from thatchers

My all time favourite cider! Has a lovely deep after taste.

Not an outstanding cider but very drinkable. Drank on tap. Had a good fizz, no funk, not too sweet and a hint of pear, although it’s an apple cider. Would be great for a hot day or if there is nothing else on tap.

Largely tasteless fizz, only acceptable as a thirst quencher in a heatwave.

Smooth sparkling cider,medium taste

A serviceable cider. Addmitedly I had their Vintage 2022 before this, and it kind of just tastes like that but worse. The apple part doesn't taste right, but it was the only cider at the Lion.

Steady.

A great every day cider that is crisp and refreshing with a little phenolic kick to it. I take it over other “mainstream” ciders
