Nice & Naughty Bourbon Barrel Aged

Tried on tap at the Schilling Cider House. Nice & Naughty is a seasonal release (kegs & bottles), but this is a special bourbon barrel aged form of it which appears to only be available in kegs. I usually love barrel aged ciders, but this one seemed a bit harsh, probably the combo of barrel aging, spiced cider, and a high ABV. I barely picked up any holiday spice, and I seemed to get ginger notes instead? It was also very booze-forward, lots of barrel notes, and lots of spirit notes. I think I much prefer the non barrel aged form of it oddly enough. I'll note however that I tried this close to room temperature, the last cider in my flight, based on my experience with the regular Nice & Naughty being much better room temperature than cold, so maybe that was a mistake on my part.
